My name is Gabriel A. Griego and I am super excited to take the role of principal at St. Turibius School starting this 2024/2025 academic school year. I feel fortunate and proud to work for a community that I am familiar with as I went to Cathedral High School and I worked for the Coca Cola Company across the street.
I am blessed to be born and raised Catholic and grew up serving as an altar boy at St, Marcellinus Parish. I attended St. Alphonsus Grammar School in East Los Angeles for eight years, Cathedral High School for four years and College of Notre Dame which is now called Notre Dame de Muir University. I taught Catechism at St. Marcellinus while in high school and continued teaching Catechism when I went to college locally.
I am married and a father of two girls where we raised them in West Covina. I have taught Catechism and COnfirmation classes for 15 years at St. Christopher’s Parish. For the past ten years I served as a Lector at St. Christophers and Sacred Heart in West Covina. I am proud to have served God all these years and blessed to be selected to take the role of principal at St. Turibius. Serving as principal in this prestigious Catholic School is a dream come true for me. I have always wanted to lead a parochial school and now God has blessed me to do this at this time in my career for the amazing St. Turibius Community.
The majority of my educational professional experience had been in the comprehensive public-school system. Last year I worked as an Assistant Principal for Tk-5 Charter Elementary School. Two years ago I was a part time Advancement Associate and 12th grade religion Teacher. In my comprehensive public education career, I was middle school principal for two years, TK-8 Assistant Principal for three years and spent close to twenty years as a high school assistant principal and principal. I wanted to share my experience with you so you can understand why I will be able to connect with all students, staff and all stakeholders. I am blessed with a rich wealth of experience having been able to work at all these varying levels of both private and public education.
Parents, my door will always be open and I will always make myself available to our children and all our school community. Working together as one big family makes a huge difference and will motivate our students to be more successful in all their endeavors. Our hard work will pay off because by the time our students get to the eighth grade, the top high schools in Los Angeles will seek them. They will also be spiritually gifted because of their faith foundation that they will have for the rest of their lives. I look forward to having a wonderful 2024/2025 academic year at St. Turibius. I pray we work hard to achieve great success and push the needle in every area that needs growth. I am extremely excited to work with all our stakeholders to serve our children. Let us work collaboratively with the common goal of making our children have the TK-8 educational experience they can have.
Go Warriors! The Lord Be With You!
